FLX Works

Built to Work Together

FLX Works approached us needing an identity for the 24/7 coworking space taking shape above the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce office in downtown Watkins Glen, created as a collaboration between the FLX Gateway Community Development Corporation and Finger Lakes Gateway itself.

Our challenge was building a brand that felt like an extension of that collaboration rather than a brand-new introduction, since FLX Works shares Gateway’s building on North Franklin Street and its economic development mission, just aimed at a different, more everyday audience: freelancers, remote workers, and small businesses renting a desk.

Connected, Not Copied

Rather than starting from scratch, our strategy was to build the FLX Works identity to complement and reinforce the Gateway brand rather than compete with it — borrowing enough of its visual language that the two read as part of the same collaboration, while giving FLX Works its own name and personality suited to a flexible coworking space instead of an economic development office.

The final identity centers on a green gear mark with a rising sun tucked inside it — the gear nodding to “Works” and the industrious, get-things-done energy of a coworking space, the sun echoing Gateway’s own rays-and-center-dot mark just enough to keep the two connected. It’s paired with a bold, no-nonsense wordmark and the tagline “Flexible CoWorking Space,” making clear exactly what the space offers before a visitor reads another word.

Built for Everyday Work

That identity now carries across FLX Works’ downtown Watkins Glen space, its website, and its social channels, supporting the community it was created for.

Located at 216 North Franklin Street in downtown Watkins Glen, NY, at the center of the Finger Lakes and New York’s Southern Tier, FLX Works offers 24/7 flexible coworking with drop-in desks, private offices, and meeting rooms available around the clock, just steps from downtown Watkins Glen’s coffee shops and restaurants.

The building itself reflects that same collaborative strategy: the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce occupies the first floor, putting FLX Works, the Chamber, and Finger Lakes Gateway under one roof and strengthening communication and relationships across all three organizations.

For those searching for coworking in Watkins Glen, pricing ranges from a $25 day pass to a $150/month drop-in membership, $650/month private offices, and meeting room rentals from $12–$25/hour.

Since opening in 2024, FLX Works has grown rental revenue by more than 30% year-over-year, reflecting steady demand from the Southern Tier’s freelance, remote-work, and small-business community.
