5 Designs We Love: CBD in CPG

For those of you who don’t yet know, CBD – short for cannabidiol – is a compound found in hemp. Contrary to the other component that makes up marijuana, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD has no psychoactive properties. Rather, it can be extracted and used for all sorts of things, primarily as a relaxer. Purported to help with everything from arthritis to anxiety to epilepsy, CBD has exploded in popularity as an additive to consumer products.

The extract has topped many lists projecting 2019 consumer trends, as it is expected to become even more mainstream over the next twelve months. While we no doubt will be surprised by some of the categories that it finds its way into, the huge market for CBD has already given us some very interesting and unique products. Below are five of our favorite designs from CBD goods.

Lord Jones High CBD Body Lotion

This apothecary-inspired packaging definitely rejects any association with traditional stoner imagery, though the herb-green color is a cute allusion.

Weller CBD-Infused Coconut Bites

These coconut bites from Weller emphasize their status as a healthy snack in their design, rather than playing up the CBD additives.

Kickback “Coffee Date” CBD Cold Brew Coffee

While this packaging puts CBD higher (no pun intended) in the hierarchy than Weller, it similarly prioritizes visualizing a lifestyle over gimmicks.

Dirty Lemon CBD Elixir

Dirty Lemon just announced that they are discontinuing their CBD tonic until federal regulations become less confusing, but we still appreciate the bottle’s design. Both intricate and simple at the same time, it definitely stands apart from Dirty Lemon’s other offerings.

Not Pot CBD Gummies

These fruity gummies are both fun and clearly not for children. They incorporate a lot more of the “California chill” look associated with hemp than the other products on the list, but it still looks very modern and current. Just because these gummies aren’t for kids doesn’t make them your grandparent’s hemp!

We expect to see many more interesting CBD products over the next few months. Be sure to keep an eye out at your local grocery store. If you see anything that you think that we should feature, let us know at Twitter or Instagram.
